Component 1 - Developing Eco-DRR Solutions in the Pilot Region
Overall Objective;
To (1) improve the knowledge base by identifying the natural hazards and the current ecosystems’ distribution and structural and functional integrity in the selected pilot region, (2) study the role of ecosystems’ distribution and state on disaster risks in the pilot region, (3) model exposure under different ecosystem management scenarios in the selected region and (4) develop a multi-stakeholder “Ecosystem-based Disaster Risk Reduction Action Plan” for the region. The outputs of Component 1 would be used to mainstream the Eco-DRR in the national policies and strategies. Thus, it would also directly contribute to new policies, strategies, and investment plans for anticipating and managing current and future risks.
There are 6 activities under the Component 1. These activities are;
- Selecting a pilot region to study the relationship between the ecosystems’ condition and disaster risks
- Identifying the existing natural hazards and the ecosystems’ distribution and their conditions in the selected pilot region
- Studying the impact of ecosystems’ distribution and their conditions on disaster risks in the selected pilot region
- Analysing and modelling exposure under different ecosystem management scenarios in the selected pilot region
- Developing a multi-stakeholder “Ecosystem-based Disaster Risk Reduction Action Plan” for the selected pilot region
- Preparing a study methodology report for the selected pilot region
